About the job
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the sale of the company’s products and services, including Corporate Performance Management/Enterprise Performance Management (CPM/EPM) platforms (i.e., OneStream) and Data & AI (i.e., Databricks), in a specified region or major geographical area.
Please note that travel may be required up to 50% or more to meet sales objectives, and to attend company events and industry conferences.

Reports To: VP of Sales and operations
Location: Remote (Eastern US - Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Virginia)
Position Responsibilities
- Set the plan for the assigned territory.
- Develop and adhere to business plans to achieve company & individual sales plans and targets.
- Forecast and track sales in the territory.
- Cultivate new Enterprise-level client accounts as well as maintain existing account relationships to achieve individual and team sales targets.
- Conduct research into potential new clients to develop effective sales strategies in preparation for initial engagement.
- Facilitate a high-profile presence in the marketplace through the development of long-term client relationships/partnerships.
- Leverage the existing base of industry contacts and clients as points-of-access to promote Ascend’s products and services.
- Develop compelling collateral to support business development activities.
- Develop comprehensive proposals in response to client RFQs.
- Be a leader of EPM/CPM and Data & AI product and industry knowledge/trends
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
Qualifications
- Four (4) year college degree in fields such as (but not limited to) Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent work experience.
- Over five (5+) years' experience as a sales manager, sales representative or a related occupation specifically in B2B selling across the enterprise.
- Experience working in a consultative capacity with C-suite level customers on CPM/EPM and Data & AI solutions and/or services.
- Extensive customer service experience in assessing and evaluating customer needs and satisfaction and meeting specified standards with respect to products and services.
- Exceptional oral and written comprehension, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience demonstrating, promoting, and selling products/services.
- Knowledge and experience with marketing/sales strategy and tactics.
- Knowledge of administration, business, and management principles.
- Experience with MS Office, as well as Customer Relationship Management software and other analytical or project management tools (i.e., HubSpot, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator).
- Extensive experience working in a team environment.
- Track record of exceeding revenue goals.
- Experience selling into both the private and public sector spaces.
Preferred Experience
- Prior sales experience in the software and software services industry, especially within the CPM/EPM and Data & AI spaces with a focus on OneStream and Databricks.
